Screed & Levelling Compound Removal Sydney
Mechanical removal of screed, self-levelling compound and unwanted cementitious toppings to expose and prepare the original concrete slab.
Service Overview
Screed and Levelling Compound Removal in Sydney
Resin Me Epoxy removes bonded, failed and unwanted screed, self-levelling compound and cementitious toppings from commercial concrete floors across Greater Sydney. The service is used when an existing topping is loose, damaged, contaminated, too high or unsuitable for the flooring system planned for the original slab.
Screeds and levelling compounds vary considerably in thickness, hardness, bond strength and composition. Before confirming the method and price, we review the accessible floor, sample exposed edges where practical, assess equipment access and establish the handover condition required by the builder or flooring contractor. A test area may be recommended where the material or removal rate is uncertain.
Removal may require aggressive grinding tooling, several controlled passes and smaller equipment around accessible edges, columns and doorways. The main machines can be connected to commercial dust extraction, with protection and waste handling planned around the actual site and agreed scope.
The condition of the concrete underneath cannot be guaranteed before the topping is removed. Existing cracks, repairs, laitance, adhesive, low areas, aggregate exposure and surface damage may become visible. Removal also does not automatically create a level or decorative slab. Further grinding, repairs, testing or a new levelling system are separate stages where required.

Our Removal Process
01 — Inspect the Existing Topping
We assess the material, thickness, visible bond condition, cracking, transitions, floor area, access and the requirements of the next flooring stage.
02 — Test the Removal Method
Where required, a test section is completed to determine how the topping responds, which tooling is suitable and what condition can reasonably be achieved on the underlying concrete.
03 — Mechanical Grinding and Removal
The agreed screed or levelling material is reduced and removed in controlled passes. Progress is checked regularly to avoid unnecessary cutting into the structural slab.
04 — Edge and Detail Preparation
Accessible perimeters, corners, doorways, columns and other restricted areas are treated with suitable smaller equipment where included in the quotation.
05 — Vacuuming and Substrate Review
The exposed slab is industrially vacuumed and reviewed with the project contact. Newly visible defects, residual material or further preparation requirements are recorded before handover.
Common Removal Scenarios
This service is commonly used during commercial refurbishments, tenancy make-good works, warehouse upgrades and flooring replacements where the existing topping cannot remain. It can also prepare the original concrete for inspection before a new flooring specification is finalised.
For broader removal and profiling work, see our concrete floor preparation service. If the remaining slab requires substantial grinding, review our commercial concrete grinding service.
